Home Gadgets Project

The Home Gadgets Project aims to support vulnerable residents of Leicestershire using smart technology and gadgets to help keep safe, maintain independence, and support carers.

Please find our contact details and referral form below.

How it Works

The seven district councils in Leicestershire and Leicestershire County Council are working together on a number of pilot projects looking at how residents can be supported to improve their home environments, maintain independence and wellbeing using smart technology and gadgets.

The project will look for smart technology, electronic devices or gadgets that can help anyone living with dementia or awaiting a diagnosis, with a physical, mental or neurological vulnerability to improve their daily lives and overcome barriers.

During the pilots there is no charge for the loan of the equipment, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, any equipment will be provided on the basis of need. Where equipment needs wi-fi this will need to be in place and will not be provided by the project. We are unable to provide any equipment that has an ongoing charge eg Lifeline pendant alarms

If you have someone who can collect your equipment from Blaby District Council Offices, please provide details on the referral form, when you require delivery please note this will take place when we have a member of staff in your local area so will take slightly longer for you to get your equipment

Eligibility criteria:

Applicant lives in one of the 7 district council areas of Leicestershire
(not Leicester City).

Is living with dementia or awaiting a diagnosis following GP referral for assessment, has a physical, mental, or neurological issue and the appropriate gadget or smart technology can support or improve safety, independence and wellbeing.

Service users agree to provide feedback in exchange for the loan of equipment.
